Breakfast of Champions

Posted by: John Williams   in John Williams, Personal, Still Life

I offer this as food for thought….

I know there are a lot of us out there that take tons of meds each month, some for pain like myself (along with a few other meds), and some simply to stay alive another day.

This is my minimum daily intake of pills, the very minimum. There are days I cheat and take an extra muscle relaxer or Vicodin and there are days I take one less of each, just not during the winter.

I always try to remember, this is not that bad, it could be much worse. I only have to deal with the constant pain, I could be seeing my life in hours or minutes, instead of the days or weeks most of us take for granted.

Model: RuiChiu

This girl was a ton of fun, we had a good session, may not have gotten 1,000 great shots, but I we got to know each other a bit and I now know how to challenge her spirited nature. We were in the studio all of two minutes and she was seeing if she could climb the walls :)   I highly recommend her if you want to work with a fun loving and caring person.

Images will be updated over the next few days…

Dirty Show 10 in Detroit

Posted by: John Williams   in Gallery Show, Personal

I got word that I will have work in the upcoming Dirty Show in Detroit – Dirty – it is their 10 year anniversary this year and I am honored to be part of the fun.

Here is a snipit from their website:

About Dirty

The mission of The Dirty Show is to promote, publish and propagate erotic art in all forms. This is done in the form of an erotic art exhibition which has become one of the largest in the world.

Since it’s inception at the turn of the century, the founders have been entertaining and enlightening the masses with a delightful event called, The Dirty Show. Held every Valentine’s Weekend, the show features a large number of artists, from first-timers to the famous at their dirtiest. While primarily focusing on area artists, The Dirty Show is open to artists from anywhere in the world, providing the work is good, erotic, they can get it here.

Porn Or Art?
This is the question most media poses. The answer is simple. It is 100%, genuine art. We have done extensive research on porn, logging in countless hours on the internet- we know porn, intimately. While some pieces, to the layman, may appear to be pornographic, it is as artistic as any shit you would see in a museum. There have been a few pieces which some feel are not “dirty”. This to is a misconception, most likely due to the lack of artistic education of the viewer.

It would be nice to make it to this show, but that I am 99% sure will not happen, besides I still am planning on making it into Naughti-Gras 2009 and want to be in town for that show.

OT3P, Sister Sin, Walls of Jericho and ILL NIÑO

Sister Sin – website [rocked the house]
Walls of Jericho – website [rocked the house]
ILL NIÑO – website [blew the place away]
OT3P – website [wonderful show as always]

Evil J was having some fun with me on stage at one point, it was nice to know they noticed I was there snapping away.

I am still recovering from the show, took a good shot on my left side from the pit, one of the dangers of shooting from the crowd. The sudden jerk did not do me a lot of good and of course when that happens you tense up and bam pain trippled. I should have some photos starting tonight/tomorrow though, when I can sit here for more than five minutes at a time.

I do want to thank OT3P and New Ocean Media for once again setting me up with a photo pass. They both continue to be very generous for letting me shoot their live shows at Pop’s, I hope to continue doing so in the future, let us hope they can play The Pageant or even The Fox in the future.

The R Strap – Product Review

Posted by: John Williams   in Insomniac Studios

About two months ago I was exchanging emails with a fellow photographer, Ron Henry, about this new ’strap system’ he invented. It is a very straight forward item, something so easy it should have been created years ago….yet this is the first time I have ever heard of anything like the R-Strap.

I took one look at his video and knew I had found a way for me to carry my camera on those days I really should be using my cane when walking or if I just need my hands to be free but want my camera close at hand. I normally use a hand strap from Canon, it is a short strap that you use in place of the traditional camera strap. This makes the camera part of your hand for the most part, less likely for me to drop the damn thing that way. Anyway I was telling Ron that I thought he came up with something to help out those with disabilities or injuries. I can set my cane down, grab my camera from my hip and take some shots, put the camera back down on my hip, grab my cane and off I go.

Ron was nice enough to send me one to review and see if it worked the way I thought it would. Well let me tell you it works great, gives me more freedom movement wise without having to worry about dropping my camera. Anyway I love the thing and I look forward to using it at some concerts and once I get wireless in the studio it will be a great addition there as well.

Anyway here is the information on this strap, I highly recommend it.

R-Strap. The revolution has begun.

The R-Strap is the most innovative camera strap ever to hit the market. This patent-pending equipment offers unparalleled peace of mind and ease of access to your camera.

The R-Strap is worn diagonally across the torso from shoulder to hip and is adjustable to fit most photographers. The pad has a mesh underside for comfort and breathability.

Our locking FastenR connects the R-Strap to the tripod socket located on either the camera body or the lens. Once connected, the camera hangs upside down, resting securely at your side or in the small of your back, with the lens pointing behind you.

With the camera at your hip or behind your back, you can maneuver easily through a crowd, carry a tripod or other gear, or simply have both hands free.

When you’re ready to take the shot, the camera quickly glides up the strap into shooting position. Grab. Glide. Click
