From my last shoot with Lisa (Iris Moon), we are still looking for that special connection between photographer and model. Don’t get me wrong we get some good shots, but we have yet to hit the sweet spot. I must admit that both shoots have been plagued with one problem or another, like the first one, my studio does not have heating/cooling yet…..yes it is getting some, the building is not really done…..so it was a nice 82 outside but about 95 inside my studio, since it is an OLD Panda Paints wharehouse it is solid brick and we are on the second floor, in the south-west corner. Can you say full on afternoon sun, I thought you could!
The studio is still awesome as hell, I love that space and am looking forward to it’s true completion.
The second shoot, she was getting the Flu, which she gave to her husband and about a week or so later both Amber and myself were down and out with the Flu. I am sure Amber brought it back to me from working at Fletchers, being around the general public during Flu season will get you sick pretty damn fast.
Anyway, I expect us to have THE session very soon, sometimes it takes a bit when you are doing a shoot with one of your friends. Anyway, here is the first image from that shoot, I wanted a cold and kind of nightmarish feel to the image.
We had a great time just hanging out and I got to sit back and watch peoples reactions to my work, even though it was just two pieces, next year I will have to submit some smaller works and include more of my male imagery, that show was lacking in that area. Overall I loved pretty much all the work at the show, there were some sculptures that I fell in love with completely.
This was the first show I was in that I was able to attend, even though I had quite a few pieces in Chicago, I never made it to either of the group shows I was in at the time.
So far I like the St. Louis art scene, seems to be less about the bullshit and more about simply enjoying art, other artists and just having a good time doing both. For those of you that did find me and talked to me about my work, a huge thank you. Like it or Hate it, I love to see and hear what others think and if I can get an emotional reaction that is the icing on the cake for me.
A big thank you to the Naughti-Gras people for letting me be part of the show, I look forward to next year, I already have ideas for some exclusive pieces.
I will have two pieces in the upcoming first St. Louis Naughti-Gras gallery show, Jan. 26th from 6-11pm. The other 62 reasons are my fellow local artists, considering this is the first show of this type in St. Louis, I expect to see some great work.
The two pieces I will be showing are Desire Triptych and Captured
The show will be at the Koken Art Gallery, same building where my studio is located. Admission is free to all, all of you that are over the age of 18 of course.
“Naughti Gras is an Erotic Art Exhibition featuring fantastic artists in our region that focus within a genre of erotic art. We are artists for artists that love seeking out a difference in our region that explains the hidden talents of such that we can creatively express within this type of art show. The show itself is by no means rude, crude, illegal or otherwise, although the human form and expression may offend some it will definitely not offend most. The exhibition is held right before Mardi Gras picks up and is held at the Koken Art Factory (2500 Ohio Avenue) in Saint Louis. This is the first of its kind in Saint Louis, and we hope to carry on this fantastic exhibition for years to come.”
Hope to meet a few of you there, I will be there for the whole evening.
