OT3P – Once again

   Posted by: John Williams

Due to some very strange medication reactions I did not get to this show,

which is extremely upsetting to me, but my health

and safety of others had to come first.

I can only hope that the next time OTEP is in town

they will be gracious enough to let me make up for missing this show.

…next week OT3P will be playing at Pop’s in Sauget, IL and I get to shoot the show again. I have been waiting to do this type of shoot with my new camera body, I am hoping to get some great results.

For those who want to know more about the show:

As for the health issues…

Still Anemic, even more so now from what I understand
Prostate Physical and Blood Test all both negative
CT Scan w/wo contrast – shows a right side kidney stone, Dr. Doshi was thinking this could be the problem before the results of the scan. Years ago I had some stones blasted, they did not come out right after the treatment so they went and got the pieces. This stone could be embeded or just be a new stone, I will no more soon.

I am not sure if this is why this is going on, but I will be glad for it to be over so I can stop passing out when I get the slightest bit tired.

Burning HerEyesIn

   Posted by: John Williams

I am going to be working with the band Burning HerEyesIn – www.myspace.com/burninghereyesin – over the next few months. We attended a practice session to get some candid shots and to get aquiented with their music, makes it easier to capture them playing live.

I do have to say I was rather impressed, I liked their sound and energy, I am looking forward to them playing live again soon.

(more soon….)

OT3P, Sister Sin, Walls of Jericho and ILL NIÑO

   Posted by: John Williams

Sister Sin – website [rocked the house]
Walls of Jericho – website [rocked the house]
ILL NIÑO – website [blew the place away]
OT3P – website [wonderful show as always]

Evil J was having some fun with me on stage at one point, it was nice to know they noticed I was there snapping away.

I am still recovering from the show, took a good shot on my left side from the pit, one of the dangers of shooting from the crowd. The sudden jerk did not do me a lot of good and of course when that happens you tense up and bam pain trippled. I should have some photos starting tonight/tomorrow though, when I can sit here for more than five minutes at a time.

I do want to thank OT3P and New Ocean Media for once again setting me up with a photo pass. They both continue to be very generous for letting me shoot their live shows at Pop’s, I hope to continue doing so in the future, let us hope they can play The Pageant or even The Fox in the future.

New and old Otep photos…

   Posted by: John Williams

Update:

I will be at the November 16th OT3P show at Pop’s in Sauget, IL taking more live shots of the band.

Fixed a few images and finished editing other ones….(old as in ones you have seen before).

From my original posting…..

First, the show ROCKED hard, band was great and seemed to not only have a great sense of humor to go along with their creative anarchy, but to just be some great folks to know.

I was lucky enough to be their guest for the show with a photo pass. Did not get me behind the barrier for some safer close up shots. I shot from within the crowd and off to the sides of the stage.

I shot about 90% of the night with manual focus lenses on my DSLR. I have about 200 shots from Tuesday night to edit, but I wanted to get at least one up tonight.

I do NOT use flash during live performance shoots, it is not how the artist intended for you to see them or the show and it takes away from the feel of a live shot most of the time….in my opinion. In the future I want to have some units I can setup to match the lighting being used by the band so I can get some better shutter speeds at lower ISO’s to cut down on the noise/grain.

Sorry guys no autographs this time around, maybe on some prints from this shoot though :) Otep has a standing invitation to come to my studio for a shoot anytime they are in town.

Vicars and Tarts

   Posted by: John Williams

This show sounds like it is going to be a BLAST! I sent in my pieces last night, not sure if they are what they are looking for, time will tell. I was sent an invitation that allowed me to submit six pieces, which I was very surprised to get. Even if I don’t get any pieces in the show, Amber and I will be going to this even for sure.

Update!!

All six pieces were accepted for the show!!!!
